I've always done my website in .NET but this VBulletin Forum I have has exploded; now that its time to upgrade to a CMS (Joomla) I see no other choice than a PHP based system?????

There's no possibility of moving to another Forum package - VB is too powerfull - and I wouldn't want to chance screwing it up.

I dont understand. What is the forum url? Are you saying its broken, or exploded as in popular?

Have you looked at ActiveModules.com? They have the awesome Active forums module or get the entire Social Suite called active social.

My apologies. VBulletin is a PHP based forum and its exploded in popularity. I would need to form a bridge between DNN and VBulletin

Having used Active Forums for many years (and still using it) all I can say is that they need to hope/pray someone never figures out a clean method to connect to vBulletin. Active Forums lacks so many features that users of vBulletin take for granted. I have nightmare support issues in dealing with simple things like inserting a URL or a photo or an attachment. I use AF but I am most definitely NOT a fan of the design or the interface...nor are my 10,000 plus users that demand to know why we have this Yugo of a forum system and not at least a decent Chevy.

Spend 15 minutes with AF version of a Social Suite...confusing, non-intuitive, directionless...are just a few adjectives that come to mind...
