Our default template file has been somehow corrupted so that any new page created by “Add” or “Copy” method, with the default template, has multiple copies of the global modules. However, using “Import” with the default template creates new pages just fine.

Here's what lead up to the problem:

1. un-checked "include on all pages" for the 5 global modules that appeared on all pages.

2. exported several templates to use for some specific pages (not default).

3. created our new pages with the templates, using "Import" for each page.

4. emptied the recycle bin (deleting all previous global module reference copies)

5. re-checked "include on all pages" for my 5 global modules.

After that the default template started creating new pages with duplicated global modules. At first it was just two copies of each module but now we are up to more than 20 copies of each.

We have reviewed the Default.page.template file in /Portals/0/, /Portals/_default/ and Host. None of them have any issues. We have also cleared the cache.

Any suggestions for how to resolve this issue?

Do you have any modules that are set to "display on all pages." If you do, they will be added to new pages. But, they might not be added to pages that you import with a template.
