Can't create custom css classes

I have added custom css classes in the past by uploading a css file and an xml file to the portal. I am in dnn 5.2 and this does not seem to work any more. Anyone have any ideas why?

I'm not sure what you are doing.
There is a portal.css file in /Portals/N/. You can edit it. The easiest way is to edit on the Admin, Site Settings page.
I don't know which xml file you mean.

That didn't work. What I am trying to do is add custom classes that will show up in the drop down in the text/html module.
