A strange request maybe. I want to upgrade DNN on a large site with over 40 users. I plan to create a backup, leave the production site running, and upgrade the backup on my dev machine and then replace the running prod site with the upgraded dev copy. That way the production site is always online during the upgrade.

But I want to prevent the 40 or so authors from logging in and making changes to the production site during the upgrade. Any ideas how to prevent them from logging in?

Thanks in advance! - Mark

You could reset the login page to the home page.  That would prevent anyone from logging in.  Take your backups before doing this, so that you can login to the site that you download.
