Hello

I am not a developer. I have no time to start to develop anything. I just want to be directed to a cheap (don't we all) webhost where I can simply sign up, point at some stuff and instantly have a dotnetnuke site. Then I can have a cigarette and start choosing layouts and plonking some content in.

So, already spent 4 hours not getting anywhere. And wondering if really there is no such thing. It seems the world is full of advice, like the wonderful hosting listing here. Clicked a couple of links, was clearly out of my depth and backed away slowly. They were obviously "big boys" links for people who have the time to actually install, configure and develop it.

I started out this afternoon just looking for a free CMS system (ASP) that I could download and plonk on my existing domain. Then somebody somewhere on a forum said DotNetNuke was great. So I found it, registered, downloaded it ... and thought "Oh, right ... " and it all went tits up from there.

Can anybody kindly let me know how far out of my depth I've fallen... and perhaps advise if there are any "instant DNN sites, just come and get one and choose your stuff/modules/look" for about $80/£50 per year?

Thanking you in anticipation of you pointing out to me how simplistic I believe life is.

Regards

.. update...

I realised I left something out.

I thought I could just download DNN, bung it on a host, maybe change a couple of things and bob's your uncle I'd be off.

But to be honest, I couldn't even find a host that mentioned it, and then it all looked complex and all these developers are talking about it ... and it made me think you might have to be a developer to do anything with it.

So I thought "must be an easier way.... must be a point and click type thing already configured/working, save me a week or 2 only to find out I had the wrong version, wrong host, was trying to change the wrong file, youdon't do it like that, can't move stuff about etc ..."

I've been trying to get a good cms for about 5 years to be honest. Not managed one yet. they seem to just not actually work the way I want them to, but this DNN seems like it does everything I need... if only I can uncover the secret to actually getting it.

Ta
