I am having trouble with the membership free trial option.  If there is no free trial, DNN online help says the user should see a screen that has "FREE" in the trial area but our says "-1".  I have not entered any expiry option in the free trial area.  The only way I can get it to work is charge a fee for the "trial" and set it up at the same price as the actual subscription.  Any ideas?

Which version of DNN are you using? Some of the earlier ones have bugs in the free trial.

I just tested it with 4.8.4, I created a free trial with:
trial fee: 0
trial period (every): 1 day

and it worked fine.

I would say however that if you are going to be selling subscriptions, check out www.ventrian.com subscription tools as it is much easier for your users to use and subscribe with and you will probably get a better conversion rate, however it doesn't have a free trial option.
