    Windows AD Integration

I just signed up for a subscription to your site and I really like the quality of the videos I’ve watched so far.  I was mainly interested in making my own skins for DNN and your site has more info on the subject than everything else I found on the internet combined.

One other area I’m having a lot of trouble finding information on is the authentication model; in particular, setting up Windows Active Directory integration.  I have been able to find bits and pieces of info but no good/complete write up on its use.  With what I have found, I’ve been able to set it but  still lack the understanding to fully implement it as Intranet solution for may company.

I would imagine I’m not the only one struggling in this area and think this would be a great topic for one of the upcoming issues.

In the mean time, any Active Directory DNN resource suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks…………. keep up the good work!

    Hello,

I'm glad to hear you have found the subscription useful.

Yes that is quite a complex topic, if you could post here any resources, links to information you have found so far I will do some research. - I haven't setup DNN on an intranet so it will take quite a bit of research.

    Thanks,

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply....... I've been out of town.

Here are some of the sites I found so far.  The sites show how to enable AD (which is relatively easy) but I have not found anything that explains the whole process or options in detail. I have also not been able to find any info on how DNN works with AD groups or implementation examples.

    Hello

I have installed active directory provider in dnn 6.

It works well when I run my project in visual studio as local host and logs in the current user of the domain to the dnn.

But when I open my portal in as an IIS location, it returns nothing.

please help me to resolve this problem.

Check the configuration to make sure that everything is ok. Some things might not have moved correctly from your localhost environment.

There is a very active development community behind the AD provider. Look for the forum at dnnsoftware.com. They may be able to provide much better help than I can.

I have asked this question at dnnsoftware. but I got no answer.

the problem is that the ad provider works well when my dnn website run as local host.

but when I create an IIS directory for that dnn website, users are not detected automatically.

is there any problem in my IIS setting or somewhere else.

    please help.

Is IIS on the same machine/network/domain the same as the localhost version?

Have you also reviewed the documentation for the provider, just to make sure that you haven't missed something?

(I'm running at the limits of my knowledge here. Hopefully someone else who uses AD can chime in with a better answer. )
