Did this occur in the File Manager, or somewhere else?

If the file is greater than 500 kb in size and the control limits you to a 500 kb upload, you'll have to find out how to change the maximum size.

What control or module is this?

I know I was able to change the setting in my web.config file that controls how much data you can upload.  I changed it to allow 20mb, and then after I uploaded some videos, I changed it back.  It worked like a charm.

on another note over 500kb for a website image is large, you may want to think about compressing the image before uploading it. - The max single image size usually on a page I aim for is 20kb.
