Hi Guys, not sure if this is the correct forum but here it goes. I have the standard skin on my portal (mimimal extropy) I would like to change or ad color or background images to the site. Can you steer me in the right direction. I tried Site settings --> Appearance --> Body Background and upload image, but didn't do a thing.
Thanks

Before embarking on something like this, it will make sense to take a look at the tutorials here on skinning. Start with the introductory ones, and work your way up. Having a decent understanding of what skins are, and how their various parts relate will help you a lot.
You will want to make a copy of the Minimal Extropy skin, and give it a new name. If you have fairly direct access to the web directory, you can just copy the folder, and rename it. You will then have to go to the Skins page, select the newly renamed skin and "Parse" the skin.
You will then have to go the new folder and make the changes.
To a large degree, most of the changes will be done to skin.css.
But, do yourself a favor and look at the tutorials first.
---------- The background image that you selected probably is sitting on your page but BEHIND the background image used by the default skin.

Lot's of files there, anyone you would recommend to go over or should I start at the top and get back to you in a month? Peter |

I recommend these. You don't have to go through everything. If you feel comfortable, jump in and try to modify a skin. That's when you will really learn! |

Already have done a little modification on skins I picked up. But mostly the banners and containers etc. I found I had to unzip the Skin folder and work within the directory and re-zip to upload to the site. A little different with 5.0 in naming. Thanks I will go through some of these. Peter |
