I just launched my 4th DNN site yesterday: http://www.diamondbar8.com/.
This site uses the web-warehouse store modules. I'm very please with how easy it was to implement and the high level of customization it allows. However, I had to use some css hacks to make an img button to view the cart and img buttons to view products. There are several other features that are on my wish list as well for the next version in addition to the features listed here: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community...fault.aspx
- An inventory tracking system
- A “specials” section on the storefront (like new items and features).
- Tag-free text tokens, i.e. the product name, price, summary, etc.
- Another option to indicate a featured item.
- A view cart token.
All those were issues that I had to work around or do without in this website.
This site uses the new NAV menu, which required some CSS hacks to get it to look consistent but it was easy to work.
This is first time I’ve use WEFT font objects in a site. They were for AmerTypeCnd, Western, and Lucida Handwriting. It’s actually quite easy to implement once you get over the small hurling of figuring out the software. I’m definitely going to be using it in other sites. If you've never used it, my advice would be to make the font objects for every character if the text can be modified through DNN.

Thanks, but that’s alright. I think you’re referring to a lack of PNG support in your browser, or it could be because of an old flash player version?
I decided that I wouldn’t accommodate very old browsers. PNG support has been around for a few years and is implemented in major browsers by at least a few updates. There will always be obsolete stragglers but if people want to use outdated browsers then they can’t expect to get the best presentation. I didn’t want to compromise my design for a small minority of browsers – nor did I want to make two websites.
But if you’re referring to a problem caused in a common browser then I’ll check it out. What browser were you using? Thanks. |

I'm using I.E. version 6.0.2900. I don't think IE supports the alpha channel in .png's until version 7.0. |

I really like your site. You've done the customisation really well and yet the site still loads really quickly(are you using the compression facility too?). You've made it real cute too with the cow etc that makes a viewer fall in love and draw interest further. The only thing is that you're not ranked very well by search engines in the term 'site: www.diamondbar8.com'(you're only featured on the forum post's of this website at the moment). I would suggest asking some of your friends who have established websites similar to your own to link to your site. This is sometimes more successful than making a submission to search engines as they'll trust links from established websites rather than new submissions. Also I'd get Gsite crawler to crawl your site and create a sitemap for you. Then you can submit the sitemap to the major search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN & Ask(however make sure you set the crawlers to a low value like 1 as it caused my website to be automatically shut down by my server since the 10 crawlers crawling my site used up more than 25% of the computer resources on the shared hosting server! Also if you have forum's or photo galleries using DNN modules these tend to produce an awful number of useless page links due to the brightness/resizing options and things also been crawled; so these need to be added to the exceptions before starting out). You can also create a robots.txt file stating the location of your sitemap using this code:- Sitemap: http://www.yoursite.com/sitemap_filename.xml I guess making sure that search engines index your site and don't miss parts of it when crawling is the first step in SEO. If you want to go further in SEO then I'd have to recommend seobook.com which is an SEO eBook I bought recently with free annual-ish updates and a regular blog by the author. Yes, you’re right. I.E. 4-6 supports transparency but not alpha-channel transparency. I’ll have to use a JS fix for IE 6 such as this one: http://bjorkoy.com/past/2007/4/8/the_easiest_way_to_png/ Thanks for pointing that out. |

Thanks, yes the site is using the default compression settings (this site is DNN 4.5.1).
I submitted the site to Google on Jun, 17th but Google hasn’t indexed it yet. I wonder why? I did use Gsite crawler. Thanks for the tip on the robots.txt, I wasn’t aware of that. I’ll add that line to it. I’m aware of SEObook.com, I try to follow his advice. I’ll checkout your site and try to comment on it. Thanks again.
