    Can the new free skins/containers recently released ALSO be used to style various modules, such as events etc.??

    Yes they can.

    "Skins" style pages, while "Containers" style modules.

    From your question, it sounds as if you might want to do some reading and viewing information about how skins and containers are used in DotNetNuke. 

    I would recommend that you look at all of the Beginner level tutorials.  In particular, you might want to look at How to use Skins and Containers in DotNetNuke.
