    How many people here are using Aweber??
    I guess you all need to use some third party forms to pass the data??

    Here's a surprise announcement after only a couple of weeks with DataSprings registration and Aweber;

    PS; I have never been contacted by any "Mark".

    Olle,

    I see that you spoke one of my colleagues, Mark, on Friday. At the time, he informed you that the method you are using to add subscribers from your database via a script is against our terms of service. When a subscriber is forced into our system via a script from your server, we are unable to generate any audit trail information for that subscriber. An audit trail is information we store on our system for each subscriber, which proves that they opted to be on your mailing list. This allows us to protect you in the event that one of your subscribers issues a spam complaint with their email service provider. Since we have an audit trail, if that ever did happen, we could contact that email service provider with proof and say "Look, this person chose to be on this mailing list on this date, at this time, from this website, etc.". The ability to refute any spam complaints is what enables us to provide you and the rest of our customers with the highest deliverability rate possible.

    As Mark mentioned when you spoke, in order to avoid the issue going forward, we need for you to terminate any scripting protocols on your system by 11:30AM EST on 4/28/10 (tomorrow). If this is not done by then, we will need to suspend your account until the issue is resolved.

    Here are a few methods you can use as an alternative way to add subscribers:

    You can put a web form on your site so that people can choose to sign up directly from your site by filling in their contact information. We have a knowledge base article that will walk you through creating a web form in your account, getting the code for it, and putting it on your web page. You can find it by going to:

    http://www.aweber.com/faq/questions/347" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.aweber.com/faq/questions/347

    You can also import subscribers from your database manually. Importing takes less than 5 minutes to do and allows you to add up to 2,000 people per day. We have a knowledge base article that will walk you through each step involved in importing a list of subscribers. You can read it at:

    http://www.aweber.com/faq/questions/60" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.aweber.com/faq/questions/60

    The most automated way to integrate your system with ours is using an email parser. How that would work, is you would set up your system to send notification emails to our system each time there is a new customer added to your database. The notification email would include the customer's name and email address. The email parser would recognize the email coming from your system and would automatically pull the person's name and email address and add them to your list. If your system is capable of sending notification emails and you would like to have a parser set up, there would be a one-time fee of $149 for our developers to write a custom email parser for your system. Once it was written, it could be made available to all lists in your account and can be used an unlimited amount of times. If you are interested in this option, let me know and I will let you know exactly what information we need from you in order to write the parser.

    I look forward to getting this issue resolved. If there is anything else I can do for you, please let me know and I will be glad to help you.

    Chase Kramer

    1 I have never received a response to my tickets here from AWeber.

    2 I have never spoken to any "Mark", or anyone else from Aweber.

    3 I am not "forcing anyone" from any database.
    ALL LEADS ARE COMMING FROM OPT IN FORMS ON A WEBSITE!

    4 This looks like you are mixing up accounts!!

    Please Contact me or respond!!!

    Hi Lee - can you help?

    So, leads are "seemingly coming from the same IP-address, and Aweber can't accept that?

    AWeber;
    I have attempted to contact you at the number provided however
    there was no answer. Please contact us via phone so that we
    can discuss this matter. The site is still scripting and all
    subscribers are appearing like they are coming from the same IP
    address. We can not create an audit trail if all the subscribers
    are appearing like they are signing up from the same computer.
    This was just done incorrectly. You can have this information
    passed to the registration site however it needs to post to AWeber
    first. I am not sure how you are able to add a form
    but then say that dot.net does not allow form tags.
    Please contact us as soon as possible to discuss this.

    ok, one thing I have just realised is the form I use to capture the aweber leads is actually a html form on a html page and doesn't use Dynamic Forms.

    I see 2 options from here:

    1) Contact Aweber and ask if there is a way for your form to send across the ip address of the user - also contact DataSprings to see if they have a method of capturing the IP address, if there is you can then send across the info they require using Dynamic Forms.

     - Looking at the form that is on my html page there is no obvious point where they are capturing the ip, so I'm not sure how they are doing this.

    2) Use a different email provider, I also use: www.1shoppingcart.com
    I have been using them for a year and capturing data using Dynamic Forms and sending it to 1shoppingcart, exactly the same method as you are currently using with aweber and I have not had any problems of ip address required.

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks Lee;

    I passed this on – and believe that Aweber will take contact with you today.

    Here’s Chad’s response;

    Hi. We have many other customers who have passed silent posts to sites such as Constant Contact as well so really it should work the same between a silent HTTP Form post via the ASP.NET/Dynamic Forms module and also a standard HTML post.

    If you need to pass along the IP Address you can do so by passing the variable that aweber is looking for… For example &IPAddress=$(IPAddress). The $(IPAddress) is an internal token within Dynamic Forms that gets replaced with the actual IP Address of the user.

    So – would that go straight in to this string??

    &meta_web_form_id=1816053635&listname=buyyourcar001&redirect=http://www.aweber.com/thankyou-coi.htm?m&meta_message=1&name=$(Name)&email=$(Email)

    Cheers

    Hi Olle,

    I've attempted to reach Lee to speak with him regarding this issue.
    Unfortunately though, I'm still waiting to hear back from him (I left a message for him).

    Unfortunately though, what you've just explained below is not something we allow. At this point, your account has been suspended for a violation of our Service Agreement.

    You cannot pass IP information the way that you've done it below.
    To continue to use the AWeber account, you will need to contact us by phone to resolve this issue.

    Please call 1-215-825-2196.

    Erin

    Yes I will call you to sort out this problem.

    It is very difficult though to outline programming-code-structures over the phone, especially when they need to be forwarded to third or fourth parties in the chain.

    Please clarify these issues Erin;

    Your requirement initially was that your need the subscribers IP Address - right?

    Are you receiving IP addresses with this new amendment to the code?

    If so, what are your "criteria" for an acceptable way of passing IP addresses?

    What are the over all "rules" "regulation" or "principles" that make this transaction so difficult?

    What are the solution we can reach when I call you? (The solution that is seemingly unreachable over E-mail?)

    Cheers

    AWeber; Erin Carney;

    Hi Olle/Lee, I just spoke with Lee on the phone regarding this issue, and I've been back and forth through many emails with Olle, but I just wanted to reiterate why we do not allow the type of scenario that is occurring on your website. When a subscriber signs up directly to your list by emailing your autoresponder from his/her email address, or by filling out and submitting an AWeber form directly on your site, we capture firsthand information about that subscribe request. (In the case of importing subscribers, there are several automated and manual checks that are performed on the list imported to establish an audit trail prior to that import being approved and completed.) When subscribers are submitted through a script, we cannot establish that audit trail. If an ISP comes to us and asks where that subscriber came from, because they have gotten a spam complaint or have reason to believe that the messages sent to the subscriber are spam, we don't have that audit information that we need to clearly demonstrate where and how exactly that subscriber came to be subscribed. We want to make sure your messages get delivered so, for the reasons listed below, we don't permit server submissions from your server or from any other customer's: http://www.aweber.com/faq/questions/268/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.aweber.com/faq/questions/268/ If you were attempting to use scripting so that you could use the design of a form that has been previously created for you, you can still do this without having to script subscribers to your list: http://www.aweber.com/faq/questions/396/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.aweber.com/faq/questions/396/ If you have questions, please contact us at your earliest convenience. Data Springs; Chad Nash

    Hi. I have reviewed your other emails, orders, previous refunds, support requests and information, and unfortunately we cannot offer refunds on an entire Data Springs Collection order. Throughout this process we have helped and spent/dedicated many support hours towards assisting you in your efforts/form implementations. I was actually surprised to hear your request for a refund in this particular situation because the issue is not actually a bug in our module but rather a policy from another 3rd party vendor. Additionally, our module can pass the IP Address within an HTTP Post so I would look for another vendor which can allow these types of posts. In fact… I don’t even know that there is anything that can be done with an ASP.NET Silent Post to allow integration with their module, it sounds like it would have to be a standard HTML form post which is honestly very limiting (in other words I really don’t see how we could modify our code to support their implementation). I also know many clients who switched from their service... I don’t believe Aweber always had that policy and its something that changed over the last year.

    In Conclusion; (Of this Aweber affair.)

    This "Spam thing" or should I say "Spam Hysteria" is a laugh - although a SAD and ironic affair. Not only are we regularly convicted of spamming without trial or even a chance to say anything. The hysteria has come to the stage where WE ARE CONVICTED BEFORE THE CRIME ARE COMMITTED!!!

    Many Years ago I bought a $50.00 Pre-Paid Optus internet account for use during some travel. The first mailing happen to be a mail to 50-+ different Email addresses, can't even remember the mail, but it was to established addresses in my lists / databases.

    I soon had problem logging on to this temporary account and contacted Optus, I was told that more than 50 mails was regarded as spam and my account was closed - including the confiscation of the pre-paid amount.

    Sadly I see the same pattern in other areas of "Law enforcement" these days. But to refrain deviating too much, I stick to an Internet crime example only.

    We have all heard about "Phishing" "Iden y theft" and "Banking Spams".

    Login details to bank accounts are stolen, a person in the country are "coned into a fake job position" "Mule" where he is to receive money and transfer to an overseas account. Once the chain is setup the money is transferred into the "mules" account, withdrawn and transferred overseas.

    The authorities here have no capacity or means of finding and prosecuting the criminals, so at least in Australia it have become common practice of haunting and prosecution the victims - the mules. (We laugh and ridicual stupid witch hunts in the 17th - 18th century - but has anything changed?)

    Are we creating a playground for criminals on the internet?
    Haunting and convicting anyone that play an honest and open game?

    Putting up so many un-surmountable obstacles that small legal businesses are made impossible.

    In the case of;
    www.buyyourcar.com.au

    Anyone can investigate this website, and the open and voluntary registration forms, it is a two stage opt-in, and the subscriber need to confirm his subcription before accepted into the lists.

    Anyone can see this, and Aweber are well aware of the fact that this is a absolutely legitimate business.

    Yet Aweber claim to be concerned about being accused and convicted for spamming?

    Isn't this enough to scare the hell out of us all?

    We are playing a completely legitimate game, but still need to be afraid of criminal conviction?

    For myself I'm convicted;
    Hours and weeks - thousands of dollars - wasted.
    Invested $500.00 in useless software. (At no fault on the producer of the software.)
    And Aweber suspends my accounts and confiscate paid up fees.

    Is this really "fear of spam claims" on Awebers part, or does the "freedom of the Internet scare us? Making some of us growing the "father feeling" the "authority mentallity" and the need for policing this environment?

    It most certainly is a crime in my book to hindering the conduct of fully legal and honest entrepreneurship. I crime we have been fighting in comunist countries for hundreds of years.

    Thanks for reading...

    Hi Olle,

    I spoke with Aweber and there is no getting around the rules that they have set.

    The simplest thing for you to do is to use www.1shoppingcart.com

    It's exactly the same service as aweber, you can just choose email autoresponders rather than the full shopping cart system.

    Plus they allow you to send the data to them using DataSprings modules, the setup is exactly the same as for aweber. I currently have a site sending emails to 1shoppingcart and have not had any problems with their policies.

    Thanks,

    Lee

    Thanks Joe

    I will look into that.
    I was looking at CONSTANT CONTACTS yesterday, and did ask them about it. (Response below.)

    Anyone having experience with these guys?
    http://search.constantcontact.com

    Hello Olle,

    I'm sorry for replying again to this email and sincerely apologize that I had misunderstood your actual request.

    I read your email once again and understand that you wish to use your own signup form to register your contacts. If I'm right, then you would require using our API (Application Programming Interface) feature. With the use of our API feature you can skip the signup form provided by us and have your own customized signup form to post the information to Constant Contact instead. Essentially, by using the API, your signup form will become the standard for your site to pass signup information into constant contact "Visitor Signup Form".

    If you have software development skills, then please visit our developer website for more information to accomplish this. Here is the link to go to that site.

    http://developer.constantcontact.com/

    You can find the site visitor API related questions here. This forum is constantly monitored by Constant Contact technical professionals.

    Should you have additional questions, please let me know.

    Regards,
    Sanjeet

    Thanks Joe

    OK, I have retrieved some Web-Form code from 1shoppingcart, and are trying to put it together.

    They do look a bit different - one thing being that my list name isn't in the code?

    Would 1choppingcart retrieve that from the ID?
    &meta_web_form_id=172223&

    My intention is to run several landing pages and lists, and preferably not with 10 different accounts.

    Anyway, I did put in 2 code options attached, if you have a chance to help.

    Cheers

    Here is a copy of the code I currently have sending to 1shoppingcart

    Post URL:
    https://www.mcssl.com/app/contactsave.asp

    HTTP Post:
    merchantid=147127&ARThankyouURL=www.mydomain.com/tabid/241/Default.aspx©arresponse=1&custom=0&defaultar&399659&allowmulti=0&Name=$(Name)&Email1=$(Email)

    I have not set it up with multiple lists, so I would create a couple of lists and then view the code that they provide for the 2 lists, hopefully this should be possible + you will be able to see the form code they provide for posting to the 2 lists

    Hello Lee. You wrote an article about how to implement Aweber using Data Springs. Is this a successful implementation? After reading this blog thread from Olle, I am left wondering if I can successfully implement Aweber to DNN using Data Springs forms. What say you.. Thanks..

    This approach should work without any problems. You might want to check with Aweber's support to make sure that the data you need to send has changed.

    Basically, you use Dynamic Forms to collect user data and, when the Submit button is clicked, that data is sent via an http POST to Aweber.
