    Hi,
I am using DNN 4.8.2 and I exported a page as I needed to restore a backup which didnt have that page. I exported the page and it gave me a file called HotStoneMassage.page.template. I then restored my backup. I went to import the page back into the site and I cant see the template file. I have checked the file is in the root and also copied it into the templates folder in my portal root. I still cant see the file. Can you please advise how I can now restore this back into my site.

    Regards

    Roger

perhaps it is not in the file managers index, go to the file manager, tick the recursive box, and click on synchronise files.

    Thanks,

    Hi Lee,

I just tried that and it didn't make a differance. I could extra folders now but no template files.

if you look at the files with ftp is the template file in the Portals/0 folder?

the root of the portal that you are working on rather than the root of your DNN install files?

I would try creating a template of an existing text / html module on your site and double check where it gets placed + that you can import the template into a new text / html module it may show something that you have missed.

    - But it should be visible as when you import you can select which folder it should come from.

    Hi,

I'm having the exact same problem with DNN 4.8.4.

I can see the .page.template files via ftp in the /templates folder under my portal root .

When I try to import a template, there is only the "none specified" option.

With ftp, I can also see a couple of .xml files in the /templates folder.  With File manager, I can see only the two .xml files.  I have done several "Synchronise file" but with no effect.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a guess, try adding the extension for the files that you are not seeing in the File Manager in the Host Menu / Host Settings / advanced settings / other settings / file upload extensions

Then go to File Manager - tick recursive and synchronise

I've tried to follow tutorial for the page templates. The template has been created on the local host and placed in the folder C:\DNN_Sites\DNN3\Portals\_default\templates.
The file can be seen in the folder by IE as well as by File Manager. But the file do not exist in the drop-down menu (then I'm try to create new page with predefined template). All above mentioned recommendations do not work.

Finally I've found the solution here ( http://www.dnncreative.com/Forum/ta...ult.aspx). So the template is work now, but it makes me pretty confusing about the structure of the portals in general.
Anyway, I have a lot of fun by working with DNN.

What do you not understand about the structure of DotNetNuke portals?
