Latest versions of DotNetNuke are out now
DotNetNuke 5.1.2 is a stabilization release focused exclusively on fixing outstanding bugs which did not make the cutoff for DotNetNuke 5.1.1 or which were discovered after 5.1.1 was released. DotNetNuke 4.9.5 includes some security fixes and a critical fix which affected module caching. DotNetNuke 4.9.5 represents the last release in the 4.x product line with all future development being focused on the 5.x platform

I'd recommend that everyone consider SERIOUSLY upgrading. Go to 4.9.5 if you can't upgrade to 5. Upgrade to 5.1.2 otherwise.
Getting current with respect to security is reason enough.
I've recently worked on developing two sites running 5.1.1 and it's very nice. Another site would have been a good match for 5.x because of the granular permissions for administrators. Perhaps we'll get to do that in the furure.

Is there a smooth upgrade from 4.9.4 to 5.1.2 yet?
I'd consider making the move for some of our sites if it doesn't cause too much pain.

I've had success. As always, I'd recommend that you copy the site to another computer and do the upgrade there. Then you can move it back.
If you have trouble, please let us know ...
