I think I'm missing something...in video 1 Lee has you copy a couple of premade files for use in creating the new skin. Where did those files come from? They aren't included in any of the downloads that I can see, and in the video he seems to assume you already have them.
Thanks,
Jonathan

Lee created those files before beginning the presentation to simplify the work.
If you follow the tutorial, those files are explained. There are versions of those files in the Andreas skin that you can download. You'll also find similar files in other skins available here.
If you are going to create skins, it's probably a good idea to create a "skeleton" skin, and that would also include the doctype and skin.css file. I would also include a bare index.html and a print.css. It's much easier to copy and modify something that exists than start from scratch every time. |

Ok, I found the files in the Andreas01 skin zip. Just a small point that Lee might want to consider when creating future tutorials--when I (and I presume many others) watch a tutorial, I follow along to the letter in order to duplicate what the author is doing. If there isn't an explanation of where to get a source file in the tutorial, it makes it a lot harder to duplicate the author's outcome. Overall, the tutorials look great, and I look forward to applying my web design skills to DNN with Lee's help.
Thanks, Jonathan |
