    Hi
I have just listened to Issue 22 Transferring a live website to local host. It seems to depend on having IIS installed - which correct me if I am wrong, does not run on Windows XP Home Edition. Does this procedure work without IIS? or do I need to change my operating system?

You don't need IIS. In my previous post, I asked Lee if there are any issues in this configuration.

You can use the free ASP.Net Development Web Server built into VWD and VS 2005. You need to make sure that your ports match. When Lee talks about setting the HTTP Alias before the backup, this needs to be set to the ASP.Net Development Web Server port you want to use. For example:

    localhost:1269/wwwroot

    Hi
it's taken a while to get back to this, but I have now got as far as trying to start the install and get the following error, can you give me any suggestions as to what it means?

    DotNetNuke Upgrade Error
The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.)

    Thanks

    Is this a new install?

If you are using one of the latest versions, there should be an installation "wizard". The wizard includes a section on setting up access to the database. Are you running from there?

    yorkshirebob,

Have you checked your connection string? Look in your web.config under appSettings for an entry for SiteSQLServer. Check your settings, and make sure your username & password is correct.
