Well frustration again, I still can’t get the local install to stick using IIS. Even on fresh install, it only works for a day and then the site wont load and IIS is stopped? The only thing installed on the machine outside of what is on the video is Skype and Firefox. Has anyone had problems using Firefox with IIS running?

I am going to try one more time and do another fresh install tonight; we all know how much of a fun 3 hour slap and tickle fest that is. What has everyone’s experience been using IIS? Should I be trying another method outside of IIS?

    Thanks,

    Sean

    Hi Sean,

I have Firefox with IIS running and have not come across these problems.  When you attempt to restart IIS does it give you an error message with a link? - If it does follow this link, previously when I came across an error in IIS I seem to recall I downloaded a small programme from Microsoft which fixed the problem.

I have not come across this problem however in a fresh installation of Windows.

Have you checked out virtual PC 2007? - It can save a massive amount of time when testing things like this.

    Thanks,

I figured out it was Skype all along.

"Unexpected Error 0x8ffe2740 Occurred" Error Message When You Try to Start a Web Site

Mental note: Skype will grab port 80 if it starts up before the IIS Web Server leading me to "Unexpected Error 0x8ffe2740 Occurred."

Fix: Turn off "Use port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incoming connections within Skype's options.

    Hope this helps someone!
