    Hello,

We are buying DotNet Nuke 6.0 - Enterprise Edition and planning to use Oracle DB. Please clarify whether the DNN 6.0 Enterprise Edition will support Oracle DB or we will have to buy a separate Oracle DP? If so, please specify the provider so that we can approach.

    Thanks,

Yes, it is possible to run DotNetNuke with Oracle. To do so, however, requires that you replace the DotNetNuke SqlDataProvider with an Oracle dataprovider. You will need to do this for the basic DotNetNuke framework AND for every module that you install that has a dataprovider. Modules that don't use the dataprovider model may not be usable.

If you want to look into this, the only Oracle dataprovider that I know of is available for purchase here: http://www.acuitisolutions.com/Solu...tiDP.aspx. I strongly recommend that you contact the vendor of this product for more details. I'd like to be assured that this is going to be maintained and upgraded, and I would like to know which module are supported.

I also recommend that you read this: http://weblogs.asp.net/christoc/arc...acle.aspx. Chris Hammond is a respected member of the DotNetNuke community.

    Hi Joe,

Thanks for your reply. Does this mean that we have to buy Oracle DP for every module we use in DNN?

    Thanks,

As I understand it, the Oracle DP is configured to support the framework and some (not all) of the DotNetNuke modules. I don't know if it supports any third-party modules.

You will need to have a dataprovider for any module that accesses the database. For those not provided, someone will need to create one for you.

Contact the vendor and ask them for details as to what they support and what they do not support.
