    Lee

As usual, great job on the tutorials this month.

After watching the email tutorial, I attempted to configure my email.  When I was configuring the Admin email, it was initially setup with a fake email (admin@localhost.com).  I changed it to a valid email and it is changed on the Admin profile now, but when I register a new user, the user gets a message that says it comes from Admin@Localhost.com (the original fake email address) instead of my new valid email, and I don't get any email sent to the Admin account.  I'm assuming this is why I don't get any Admin email.  When I tested the smtp settings, it correctly sends the test message to the Host email (which happens to be the same email as I am using for the admin account).

I went into the User table of the database and the Admin account email there shows my new valid email.  Is there another table where I would need to delete the admin@localhost.com email, or am I doing something else wrong?

    Thanks

    Hello,

Interesting! - Can you go into the Newsletters module and send an email to the administrators?

Have you added any additional admin accounts to the portal?

In Admin / Site Settings / Other Settings / Administrator:

Does it read 'Administrator Account' or is it set to another user?

What is the email address set to for the Super User account?

I've noticed that when I change the admin email, it did not take effect until I reboot my computer. Exiting the browser and starting a new one did not help. I assume it is a SQL Server Express issue with caching or something. I could probably have just stopped/restarted SQL Server, but I didn't know to try that until now.

But I have a separate problem. I have three working email accounts, but dnn only works with the one I have assigned as host/admin. If I enter any other email for a user, it doesn't seem to deliver the mail. And when I modify the Admin to any other email, it doesn't work. All three emails seem to work just fine from outlook and/or web access. I have checked filters, junk email, and spam filtering on all three and that doesn't seem to be the problem.

    Any ideas?

When I change my admin email from address1 (which works perfectly) to address2, the Newsletter sends to address2. If I register a new user with address2, the registration notifications won't send to the user. If admin is set to address2, admin will not receive a notification that a new user registered.

Password changes do send notification to address2 IF the password being changed is the admin account, but it doesn't work if the password change is a regular user account.

To summarize: both users and admin work correctly with address1. Only admin password changes and admin newsletters work with address2, nothing else works with address2.

    Hello,

I've noticed that when I change the admin email, it did not take effect until I reboot my computer.

I haven't come across this problem before, but I don't use SQL Server express, seems like strange behaviour.

Is address 2 a different domain name?

Can you can send an email to any email address that is on the same domain name as your mail server but can't send an email to a completely different domain and mail server?

This problem has been posted before here and I don't think a solution was posted. I am guessing it will be something to do with your mail server not allowing DotNetNuke to send the emails to separate domains. I would contact your hosting provider to see if they can provide any advice setting up email for DNN. If you find a solution let us know as I think a few people have the same problem.

I have not had this problem before with my hosting providers, but it is probably down to how they have configured their mail servers.

    Thanks,

    Lee

Well, at the risk of sounding like an idiot, everything is working as it should as of this morning, and, as far as I know, I didn't do anything to change it, but it's working on every email address. I can't expain it.

I'm sorry to waste your time on this, only to come back and say everything is fine. I wish I had more time to research it further.

I do have one thing that I thought was peculiar. I have a aspnet_wp.exe process running on my computer. If I go to Window Task Manager and attempt to end this process, it doesn't kill it. This process typically hovers around 60M to 80M in mem usage. When I attempt to end it, the mem usage goes down to 3,024K, but it never disappears. I don't remember that behavior before. Is that unusual?

Thank you for all the help.

    Hi Mark,

No worries, these things sometimes happen! - On my computer aspnet_wp.exe is not running until I launch a DNN localhost site. Once I do that on inital load of the home page it is using up 44M and I'm sure that will increase when actually using the site. - Logging in as host raises it to 48.5M and this is a bare test site.

    Thanks,
