My drop down menu (replaced Solpart action menu) doesn't disappear when I log out.

Please help. I have uploaded the house menu module & skin object (DNN 4.3.4).

I have followed Lee's tutorial regarding removing the standard module solpart action menu with a drop down list. In editor mode it works perfectly, but when I log out, the menu remains (but with no entries - actually a blank line and a divider line) as does the arrow.

The page and module are set to view by all, edit by administrator only. I've gone through the tutorials a couple of times, but nothing seems to cover this.

    Thank you

    Hello,

This is a bug in DNN 4.3.4 - hopefully it will be fixed in the next release (due in a couple of weeks).

I have found a workaround to it however.

When you create a page, Under Page Template, do not select 'Default' from the drop down list
    Select 'None Specified'

This will create a standard blank page. - Then add a Text / HTML module to the page and it will now work correctly.

    Thanks,

This does indeed seem to work for Text /HTML modules - but others I've tried (e.g. FAQ, Documents etc) all still have the problem.

Any suggestions as to how to work around this until the issue is properly fixed ?

    Many Thanks

    James

OK - found that if you switch the "display container" off for the page it seems to be Ok

    Hi James,

Thanks for the info, yes you are correct with the problem.

Solpart menu in the latest release is now compatible with XHTML transitional mode which means that you can leave the Solpart menu for the containers.

The downside to this is that the Javascript for the Solpart menu will have to be loaded which will mean you will not get all of the speed benefits of a pure css menu and completely removing all of the Javascript of the Solpart menu. - But at least you will be able to display your containers around your modules!

Hopefully v4.3.5 should be released soon - it's currently out for platinum benefactors and it is supposed to fix these problems.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

If you un-tick display container it will remove the container, so it's not an ideal solution. - To do this you can go to a modules settings page / scroll down / page settings / un-tick Display Container.

To use the standard Solpart menu in the container, if you view a container from the DNN blue skin you will see how it is done, or view any of the earlier skinning tutorials from Issue no 5 & 6. All you need to use is this token: [ACTIONS]

If you are using v4.3 I would currently recommend to use the [ACTIONS] token and use Solpart as the container menu due to the errors with the drop down list.

For a horizontal menu with dropdown submenus I would use the Solpart menu. - Solpart is currently being used on DNN Creative, but on any new sites I build I use the HouseMenu and create pure css skins for better performance and quicker loading times.

Because I use the HouseMenu I do not use drop down sub menus, I tend to use the method that is outlined in this tutorial How to create Horizontal CSS menus in DotNetNuke using the HouseMenu or a combination of a horizontal and vertical menu.

Eventually DNN Creative will be using the HouseMenu with a pure css skin when I get time to re-design the site.

    Hope this helps,

    Hello all,

The DropDownList problem in the containers should now be fixed. DNN v 4.3.5 has just been released and it is mentioned as one of the fixes amongst many others.

    Thanks,
