According to Xepient, Open-SearchEngine provides DotNetNuke with a true enterprise search engine capable of indexing html content as well as documents from multiple sites and / or physical directories.

  • Based on Lucene.net, includes a true web spider
  • Capable of multi threaded indexing of any site, DNN or not
  • Does not rely on database to index content
  • Indexing of PDF files and Office documents
  • Search results can be limited to a site that is indexed and by security role
  • Search spider can impersonate security roles to index otherwise unavailable content
  • Compliance with ‘no follow’ the spider will not follow and index those links

This is an interesting website because it uses CSS for the layout of the website, rather than tables. At present, there are not many DotNetNuke websites that use CSS for the layout on commercial websites, so this is a particularly interesting website.

Even more interesting is that this site fully validates to the W3C standards. This is the first DNN site that I have come across that fully validates
