I may be living in a fool's paradise but it doesn't seem to be necessary to do all that zip/install stuff with 4.9.   I copied over the files into a folder named "DNNC" under "skins" then went to "Host, Skins" and the folder name was available as a selection.  After that I just changed the CSS as needed and results were immediately available.

If I make changes to the HTML file then I just reparse it to recreate the aspx file.  Looks like it might even be possible just to copy the changes to the aspx file, but I'm still trying to play by, some, of the rules.

Skins are enough of a nightmare, thought it might be worth a note in case someone else is also banging their head.

I still wish comments were allowed under each tutorial because it's likely few will see this note at the same time they're going through the tutorial.

Yes, that's true. If you have access to the web server and to the directory, you can do things that way.

If you work with the aspx version of the skin, you don't need the .htm or the manifest file.

If you are on a remote server and can ftp or remote to the directory, it also works that way.

But, if I only work with the aspx file then wouldn't it get overwritten each time the skin was parsed?

If you choose to work with only the aspx file, you should delete the htm file.  YOu won't even need to parse the skin.  You just make your skin changes to the aspx file and go.

Good to know. Wish there was someway to add this info to the tutorial or redirect an old tutorial to current methods.
