I just subscribed to this site. When I download a video and unzip it, double click on the icon my page stays blank. I downloaded macromedia flashplayer. I can not find the problem. I did what you suggested to another customer (uninstall, re-install with the latest version, Flash player wii play any other video. I am stuck. thanks.

Hello,

Which browser does this happen in? You may find the security settings in your browser are preventing the play of local flash videos through your browser.

Try lowering the security settings in your browser settings and also try a different browser. It should work ok in IE and Firefox,

Thanks,

I'm not sure what would be causing this. I posted some sugestions here which may help.

Do you have another computer you could test these on?

Perhaps try installing a new browser and see if that allows the playing of the files - perhaps Google Chrome.

Let me know how you get on,

Hello, Lee
I am also having difficulty viewing the tutorials.  I tried your suggestions and lowered security, and changed browsers.  I also changed computers and still have the same blank screen.    When I right-click on the screen, I see 2 messages ... "movie not loaded"  and "about Adobe Flash Player 10".  The movie not loaded is grayed out.

I can see the tutorials you sent in wmv, but not the htm.  Can you help with this?

I tried on 3 other computer and everything worked fine. I finally found a way out by accident; you may laugh but it works. I know it does not make sense but here what happened: with FireFox, If I dblclick the UNZIPPED video file, it starts OK. Does'nt work if I click the unzipped file.
thanks for everything

hello,

After a bit of research, I think this is a security setting with the flash player itself, check out this article:
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/articles/localcontent/

Thinking about it , when flash updated to the latest version 10, I had to change a security setting to allow local flash videos to play.

The info in that article should show you how to update the security settings, let me know if this works, thanks,

All: Same issue here with IE. Settings cannot go lower than Medium. All we get is that green box in the centre of the screen that says created with Canastia Studio or whatever. The info bar says "Done" and the green box says 100%.

Tried it on Ubuntu Linux 9.10 running Firefox Version 3.5.4, Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu canonical - 1.0 and it plays audio and video fine. I did notice that any of the tutorials that do not have a sub folder called "Files" play fine in IE. Not sure what this is, but it sounds like permissions to me.

I ran into a similar problem on Windows Vista when I tried to open the .htm file directly from the opened WinZip window.

I fixed my problem by EXTRACTING the zipped files to a location. Then I could open the extracted .htm file to view the video without any problem.

Hope this is the same problem some of you might have.
