I'm trying to install DNN 4.8.4 on my laptop for the first time. I am getting the following error:
Parser Error Message: Could not load file or assembly 'DotNetNuke' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
Source Error:

<PRE>Line 1: <%@ Page Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" Explicit="True" Inherits="DotNetNuke.Framework.DefaultPage" CodeFile="Default.aspx.vb" %>
<FONT color=red>Line 2: <%@ Register TagPrefix="dnn" Namespace="DotNetNuke.Common.Controls" Assembly="DotNetNuke" %>
</FONT>Line 3: <asp:literal id="skinDocType" runat="server"></asp:literal>
Line 4: <html &lt;%=xmlns%&gt; &lt;%=LanguageCode%&gt;></PRE>

Source File: /dotnetnuke_04.08.04/default.aspx    Line: 2

Assembly Load Trace: The following information can be helpful to determine why the assembly 'DotNetNuke' could not be loaded.

<PRE>WRN: Assembly binding logging is turned OFF.
To enable assembly bind failure logging, set the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog] (DWORD) to 1.
Note: There is some performance penalty associated with assembly bind failure logging.
To turn this feature off, remove the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog].
</PRE>

I cannot find [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog] in the Registry!

Any suggestions?

Thanks...

Can you please describe how you installed DotNetNuke? Which version?

I downloaded DNN 4.84 Install Package, SQLServer 2005 Express and the management module. I created the virtual website in IIS 5.1 and the database DNN in SQLServer. I then ran using IE 7.0 the DNN as http://localhost/Dotnetnuke_04.08.04/. I kept getting parsing errors in the config file. The error I related above was the last error I received. Being in default.apsx, it stopped me cold.

Thanks ...

Hmmm ... it's quite possible that your installation isn't correct, or that a file or files are missing or corrupted. I'd start by deleting everything in the web directory and starting over.

You shouldn't have to do anything to the database, because it hasn't been touched.

When DotNetNuke starts, it should invoke the installation Wizard ... and you'll be on your way.
