Following along with the ASCX skinning tutorials in Issue 46,  6:30 into video # 2:

Opened the website in Visual Web Dev Express (2008), navigated to the skins folder, opened 3pane_main.ascx

Scroll down, click in the code for the dnnLinks token, hit the space bar  AND....

No popup with available attributes.

The properties window is showing "dnnLinks " in the dropdown selector and the rest of the window is empty.

I've tried it on several skins with the same results.  The popup does show up for standard html tags.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Additional info:

Error on the first line (Control):   "Name 'SkinPath' is not declared."
None of the tokens are recognized (they are all underlined in green).

The current releases of DotNetNuke do not include the files needed to integrate with VWD's Intellisense. It's my understanding that this will be added with DotNetNuke 5.2.

Ok, thanks for the info. Might be worth a mention in the tutorial.

I think that I didn't say what I meant to say very well.  I was referring specifically to Joe Brinkman's blog.  The entry about Intellisense is here

Reading it again, I see that it has to do more with symbol files and XML comments.  I guess that intellisense always works if you are wor king in an enviroment that has access to the namespace that you are using.

ok, I just checked it in DNN 5.1.4 and intellisense works for me using VWD Express 2008.

I opened the folder for all of the DNN installation files as a website
navigated to default / skins / minimal extropy
opened index.ascx

Clicked in the main area underneath the registration section
Enter
< dnn:
(I added a space above so that it displays in the forum)

And a pop up list should appear of various DNN tags that you can use, select breadcrumb, press the spacebar and another list of attributes should appear for the breadcrumb token.

In the minimal Extropy skin, I get a green underline as well for the Breadcrumb token, stating that runat = server is missing - (this could be a mistake in the code for the minimal Extropy skin) - I would not worry about that for now, just see if you can get Intellisense working with the skin that I use in the tutorial.
