I've recently upgraded three DNN installs from 3.2 -> 4.4.1 (about 40 total portals).  I've been pleased with the upgrade for the most part (better performance, definitely) but got bit by one security issue.

In 4.4 the FileManager permissions are set to prevent all users from accessing the files on the server.  This has broken my download modules and an ecommerce installation.  To fix, all I have to do is grant view permissions to All Users in the FileManager, but I don't want to do this manually for all directories/subdirectories for every portal!

Anyone have a shortcut or some SQL to change the 'no access' default to permit view access by all users?

Thanks for any help,

Tim

i have a similar issue, users cannot upload to the directories of their own sites unless they are added manually to each page and given write access. please help.  DNN version is 4.8.4.

Are these normal users, or are they administrators?

The users are administrators.  It seems event if they are administrators, we now have to provide write access to each folder through the file manager to allow admin users to upload files (ie .pdf, .jpg, etc) due to extra folder security.

Is there any way to allow administrators to have write access to all folders without having to do it manually for each folder in the file manager security settings?

Again, this issue did not exist with DNN 3.5.4 and is apparently caused by extra file security introduced in the later DNN versions DNN 4.4+

Cheers,

Max.

I had a quick scan and it appears as though you will have to manually provide access for other security roles, but for anyone with the administraor security role, the permissions should already be applied, you should see they are greyed out and that you do not have the option to change the permissions.
