Hi,

I've been working on getting my skin to work in both ie6 and firefox.

In Firefox everything is fine but in explorer the left housemenu positioning keeps jumping around and I'm not sure why?

You can see this here: http://www.rainfordtest.com/Support/tabid/54/Default.aspx

The skin is only applied to this 'support' section, when i click through the menu, some pages it is correctly positioned yet on others it is too low?

Any ideas, suggestions would be a great help,

Thanks alot,

Jo

Hello,

I can't see an obvious problem, but when I need to debug a CSS skin I change each of the divs in question to have a 1pixel coloured border around them. This enables you to see what is happening when the menu is moving up and down.

When I have seen this happen previously it has been due to something slightly overflowing (ie. the pic could be causing problems) and causing a pane to display wider than it should - you would be able to see something like this if you enable borders. - Following this you could then look at specifying different widths etc.

This is how I would approach it, hope it gives you a starting point, thanks

Yes, there are several methods.

If you check the simple red leaf skin, you will see a method for placing ie hacks into a separate CSS file.
  • Free Skin - Simple Red Leaf CSS Skin
  • How to create a pure CSS skin

  • Also, in the sIFR tutorial we introduced different techniques for adding CSS code which you maybe able to adapt.

Incorporating sIFR (Scalable Inman Flash Replacement) with DotNetNuke skins

I always work by getting Firefox to display correctly and then try to just place small tweaks into a iehacks.css file for IE if they are needed.

    Thanks,

Cheers Lee, after alot of playing with different settings and ie hacks I've now got something which looks okay in both browsers. Just got to create the iehack.css file now as it is currently one long CSS file.
Thanks for your swift reply and help as always...very much appreciated!
