I am new to DNN. This is my first install.

Lets just say I had problems installing. Everytime I got to a certain point of the install it would loop me back to the beginning of the install. I had to go into the web.config file and change  add key="UseInstallWizard" value="false" to install. Then I got to the page where the link is to get to the home page but it kept loading in a loop so I had to set the trusts to high. That fixed the problem.

Now I am at the homepage and I can't register or login. The session id changes but I am still on the homepage.

Help please!

I need some more details. What kind of system is this installed on? Which version of DotNetNuke? What installation procedure didyou use?

I apologize:

Windows Server 2003 SP2, SQL server 2000/2005 (I am not too sure which version of SQL I am using. I know that sounds stupid sorry.) The db is on a different system. DotNetNuke 4.8.4 Install.

I explained above how I installed.

I think that is it. Sorry if I missed something.

When you went through the installation process, did you use the Wizard? If so, did you do the permissions check and also the SQL connection string check?

Hello,

You question made me wonder if I did something wrong during the install so I am trying to install again. I am having the same problems as before.

I go to install. I do the permissions check and everything passes so I click next.
I get bounced back to the first page.
So this time I skip the permissions check and hit next on that page instead. I get to the db connection page.
I click to test the connection and I get bounced back to the first page again.
Frustration!

I could just go into the web.config file and set useinstallwizard to false but then I will have not gotten any further than I did the last time right?

I am following mitchel sellers instructions except I didn't set autoupgrade to false or useinstallwizard to false. Everything else I did to a tee.

The key here is that you are getting these problems even during installation. Is this install on a hosting service, or a computer that you control? I have a suspicion that there might be an issue with IIS, but I'm not at all sure what it is.

It is a server at work. I am terminal servicing into it. The db is on another server (SQL 2005). Also in the building.

Rao,
Sorry I don't quite understand your question.

I think my problem is either with IIS or that I am not "talking" to the SQL properly.

The server that has DNN has other web appications running on it. The server that has SQL on it has other dbs on it. Would that interfere with DNN somehow?

That shouldn't be a problem. Try installing DotNetNuke on a local computer (you can use the same db server) and see if you can get it to work locally.
