I recently installed DotNetNuke locally. The install went fine. After being prompted to change my password at the initial log-in I have not been able to log into the site. Each time I enter the username and password I am simply redirected back to the home page, but I'm never logged in. Is there any way to solve this problem? I am using 4.8.3. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you tried asking the site to send you your password, or initiate the change password sequence?

It could be possible that if you missed typed the password and failed to login three times DotNetNuke locks that account for approximately 20 minutes.

Can you register a new user and login with that user?

I can register new users. But it still won't let me actually login. Weird huh? Also, I know that it actually recognizes the password because when I mistype it, the appropriate screen appears telling me so.

I belive that I hade the same problem recently. Once you have entered user name and password, are you pressing enter or using mouse to click on submit. Every time I pressed enter I ended up a my home page. My experience happend a week ago after upgrading to 4.8.4. Now on 4.8.3 and is okay.

I have almost the same problem as yours, but the only difference is, I can't even see the textboxes for username and password. When I click the LOG-IN link, nothing happens... But I was able to edit the site after my installation.

Thanks in advance for helping me solve my problem...

Does you skin show the Login and Register links? If so, do these get filled in with a username after you try to login but are redirected to the home page?

Can you give the link to your site? If you don't want to publish is, you can send it to "jncraig at yahoo.com."

Yes, I can see the Register and Login Links but I'm just being redirected to the home page, everytime I click the Login Link(Register Link works...)... During the installation, I didn't change anything in web.config file because once I edit something, error comes out. Do you think, that has something to do with the odd problem I am experiencing now?...

I installed DotNetNuke 4.8.3 on my local computer. I'm not yet publishing it.
I've been trying to install it for how many times...but same error occurs...

By the way Sir, thanks for helping me to figure out the problem...
