Just a quick question to DNN developers - how easy or difficult is it to get upto speed with DNN - If one wants to create a portal?

Hi Fenix,
Personally I think it's pretty easy to learn the basics, enough to get a portal up and running. Up until recently I had never done anything with DNN, but I soon picked up the basics. The videos on DNN Creative are fantastic, so I would recommend these as a starting point.

I agree that it's fairly easy. The largest conceptual hurdle faced by some is "Where are the pages stored?"

I also recommend that you get a good book to help you along.

My first book was the "Professional DotNetNuke 4" book by Shaun Walker and friends. That one probably has a lot of material that won't be appreciated by or appropriate for somebody who just wants to build a a web site.

There is a "Dummies" book, and there are several others that focus more on the website building side of things. I haven't read any of them because I've still got my "inappropriate" book.

Hi Fenix,

Yes you should be able to get up and running quickly with the videos on here, just start at issue 1 and work your way through - each issue builds on the knowledge of previous issues. - Within a couple of hours you should have the basics which you can then expand on depending on what you need to learn at the time. - Of course we are always here to help in the DNN creative forum as well so please feel free to ask any questions,

Thanks,

Lee
