www.PinesSoccer.com

This is a site for a local soccer program. We will use it for about 20 teams this season and if all works well we will use it for the entire program next season (about 150 teams and more then 2,000 players).

The main focus of the site is to help communicate with team players/parents. Each team has a secure Team Page with game schedules, team rosters, contact info, etc...

We also built a custom Text Messaging module which allows each team to send Text Messages to one or all members of that team. We found this to be very usefull in the past by being able to quickly send game cancellations or reminders to everyone's cell phone. Again just improving communication.

We used Dynamic Registration module to customize the DNN RSVP process. Each coach will pass out the RSVP codes for parents to use. When a registration (new or update) is submitted with an RSVP code, the user automatically gets access to their Team Page. Dynamic Registration was also used to auto build a Cell Phone SMS Address field to be used with the Text Messaging module. It is just a simple field add where the phone number is added to the cell phone carrier text messaging email address (i.e. '5555555555' + '@vtext.com')

We are also using Indoo Grid to manage SQL tables for Teams, Game Schedules, Standings, Team Rosters, etc...) An excellent tool to quickly view, add, modify records and easy to use. Coaches have the ability to add, delete, modify Team Roster tables with this tool.

Anyway, your comments are welcome and appreciated.

Thank you DNNCreative also for teaching me many things via this website.

Hello,

I got chance to view the site this morning and really like the site, I think its a great idea and the registration form is well setup.

The only thing that stood out on a quick view was that the initial page load took a while. You can fix this by regularly pinging your servers site so that it stays in your servers memory. - I use host-tracker.com but there are other services out there.

Would you be interested in doing an interview on this site for DotNetNukepodcast.com?

I thought it would be cool to setup a web meeting where we can view your desktop and you talk us through how you set the site up, such as the registration page. - I will record this as a video presentation / interview and release it for free on DotNetNukepodcast.com.

If you're interested let me know, you can contact me on email and we can discuss the details.

Cheers,

Lee

jnCraig,
the host went through a database security update and the site was down intermittently throughout the day yesterday. Sorry about that. It is all up and running again.

Lee,
Thank you for the feedback. I will look at keepalive options now and will contact you about the podcast. I would enjoy talking about the site and helping others in any way I can since so many helped me get it to this point.

thanks,

Tex

Hey Tex,
First let me congratulate you on doing a great job on www.PinesSoccer.com. You obviously have put a lot of effort into it. I'm putting together the same sort of web site for my ice hockey league here in Florida. 4 teams, needs better commuication for scheduling and rosters and registration of course. I would like to know more about how you setup the website, the Dynamic Registration, the management of the teams, rosters and schedules. I would like to avoid my own module development where possible to cut down on my development time.

Did you guys put together that podcast? Would love to hear more about it.

Any further information would be appreciated

Tex,

Very nice work, is the Text Messaging module available somewhere? It is something we had list as thing to do for our website. I like how you set up your registration page, we have Dynamic Registration and plan to do something similar, with associtions, teams, crew, fans, promoters etc...

For the team pages are you using My Profile for the team pages?

Lee when will you two get the interview done? Can't wait to learn more about the building of the site.
