You guys were cool enough to review my Demon Chronicles site so I thought I'd throw in this site I created and manage as well.

IDTA DekHockey

This site is a street hockey site that a friend owns and operates. It is still a 3.x site and uses the Component Art menu for navigation and the RADEditor for HTML editing.

The site has been up and running for about a year and a half now. The client loves it as well as the members of the organization. It is geared more for the kids.

It was my first "commercial" DNN site and has done well enough to generate some other business for me.

Review away...

Hello,

What I like about this site is that it doesn't look like a DNN site. - I like the menu and style. - How do you find the Component Art menu? I haven't used it before.

The only comment I would have is the size of the text. - Some users may find it hard to read. - I remember creating a recycling website which orginally had the small font that you are using and I was inundated with complaints that they couldn't read it.

Of course if you go for a larger font size then it will spoil the look that you have. I would opt to implement text re-sizing in IE as a minimum as currently none of the text re-sizes in IE.

There is a tutorial on DNN C. on how to implement this and could be worth considering for future projects.
How to create resizable text

Cheers,

Lee

Again very well done. I also like that you can't tell it's a DNN site. Everything looks custom. Nice job!

Nice Site!  However, I do agree with others that the font size could be a little bigger.

What did you use for the glossary?

Lee,

Component Art makes a suite of controls, www.componentart.com, I used there stuff on another project and decided to give a try in a DNN setting. The suite isn't free and it isn't cheap either.

Mike,

The glossary came from House of Nuke, www.houseofnuke.com

Site has been upgraded to 4.7.0, this was an upgrade from 3.2.

The upgrade process from 3.x to 4.x was done using Mitchel Sellers guidelines for upgrading from 3.x to 4.x.

Using his upgrading tutorial/suggestions, I achieved the major upgrade with no issues to report.

Due to the incorporation of the FCKEditor, I removed the use of the RADEditor completely, but the site still uses the ComponentArt menu for navigation.

NOTE: When upgrading your sites, I cannot stress the importance of a full backup prior to ANY upgrade. Don't ask me how I know!
