Hi

We are starting to build mobilized websites for our clients (ie skins that are specifically for mobile browsers). Does anyone know how to trap the browser information and direct it to the appropriate skins?

The point here is that we don't want to create a whole new website just for mobile content esp when the content is almost all the same as the "regular" website anyway. So we want to trap the type of browser coming into the website, and apply the appropriate skin for the browser.

Any assistance is appreciated!

The Minimal Extropy skin that is distributed with DotNetNuke 5 includes the functionality that allows you to choose among three skins.  There is also the functionality to choose font sizes.

You can get information about the browser from the http request.  You can get at that with code, javascript, or jQuery.

If I were to do something like this ... I would study the Minimal Extropy skin and try to adapt the techniques that it uses.  I'd think about creating a skin object that determines the browser type and then chooses an appropriate skin.

(Writing skin objects is not complicated at all if you have some programming experience.  Also, there are several nice blogs and other things available.  Take a look at blogs from Joe Brinkman, Timo Bruemelhof, and Mitchel Sellers -- all linked from the DotNetNuke website.)
