Hi,
I am talking to a company about maybe re-doing their website.
Now, their website comes in at the top of the list in googles search results and the last thing that i want to happen is that they move to my site with a new hosting provider and then they drop down the ranking in google.
I am wondering what governs the google ranks?
Is it the domain name - so as we are keeping the doamin name the same it will keep the google rankings.
or
is it the content in the website and how it is written?

Any advice on this topic would be great!

Many thanks,
Matt.

It is a combination of everything:
domain name
content
skin (ie. Order of the source code, semantically coding the skin / content etc.)
outside links to the website
internal links within the website
