Greetings,

With the new search box layout giving users an opportunity to search within the dnn site or on the web is it possible to add in site:www.mydnnsite.com before this search so that first results are from the dnn site.

Thanks.

The search in the "dnn" site is within your site.

On the newer versions, it gives an option to search within the dnn site as well as a radio button that allows a search from this search box to the web. I am interested in knowing how to configure the web search. Thanks.

I haven't come across any information for configuring the actual web search, if you find any let us know as this will be very interesting. - The only information I have come across is how to configure the display ie. - to display the web search radio buttons or not

I've spent 30 minutes or so googling for how to set up search.aspx for "web" rather than site and found *nothing*?? How is this possible?

Hello,

If you look at one of the free skins on DNN creative you can look in the skin.xml file and look at the settings for the search token. - you should be able to change the settings here so that it just displays the option to search the web.

< Object >
    < Token >[SEARCH]< /Token >
    < Settings >
      < Setting >
        < Name >CssClass< /Name >
        < Value >SkinItem< /Value >
      < /Setting >
      < Setting >
        < Name >ShowSite< /Name >
        < Value >False< /Value >
      < /Setting >
      < Setting >
        < Name >ShowWeb< /Name >
        < Value >False< /Value >
      < /Setting >
    < /Settings >
  < /Object >

so in one of those skins, set showweb to True

True, I can show it but where is the rest of the control? Which search page? Where are the link properties? Thats what I have been looking for... thx for your response.

After a bit of testing in the DNN blue skin, it doesn't seem to work that well. -   The first search works and opened Google with the search results, after that it would not perform a search.

You can configure the search results page - but this only configures the search results for searches within your DotNetNuke installation. - I have not looked at the web search any further, if you find any information let us know.

One question I do have is, if you implement adsense on your website you have the option to display links to search results, - I wonder if it is possible to get a Google affiliate link in the web search results from your DNN portal?
