Does anyone know how to disable the Manage Profile link for a user? I have a custom profile property that I want users to enter during registration (which I've done successfully) but after that I don't want them to be able to change it.

I thought turning off the Display Profile Visibility under Membership Provider Settings might do something but it doesn't.

Thanks in advance.

You can make a custom profile property not visible. That solves the problem of the user not being able to change it, but it doesn't make it possible for the user to set it when registering, either.

So ... what I would suggest is that you create a custom registration page what includes a module that does nothing but collect this particular property and then updates it.

If you don't want to customize the Registration page, then you can use the "User Page" (it is available in the Admin Site Settings). Once Registration is complete, the newly registered user is sent to the "User Page". You could collect the special information there.

In either case, you'll still have to do some coding (or have someone do it for you) to get the extra data and insert it into the profile properties. If you end up paying for this, I'd recommend that you use the approach of setting up a custom registration page.
