Hello Lee and friends,

Just wondering if you could have more than one super user (i.e. host password) in dotnetnuke.  My shopping cart I have requires a person to be a super user in order to get into the admin area of the store and so I was wondering if it was possible to attach more than one password to the host usernmae or if it was only possible to change a host account password.

Thanks a lot

You can have more than one account with superuser status. See the "Host Accounts" entry on the Host menu. Note, though, that all hosts have all privileges to all portals.

One more thing I would like to add to the above question is concerning the ability to either add multiple passwords to the one host super user or perhaps find a way to add a super user role to what would be other wise simply an admin, editor, etc...

Can you add a super user role to multiple users or multiple passwords to one user so that more than one person can as super user access this store admin area that requires you to be a superuser to have access so that if multiple people need to be part of the admin team they would not have to all share the same one super user host name and password thanks

You can't have multiple passwords for a single account.

You can create multiple superuser accounts. Each account has it's own username AND password.

hello jncraig,

just tried what you said I went to host account via the host menu and just got bumpted to the user account region. Problem is when I went to the user I wanted to give super user role to that was not an option in the manage roles section. The highest role I could find in this area was administratior. I am running as of now 4.5.1 version of dotnetnuke. Could it be that 4.6 and added the option to encpasulate a user with the super user role not just the administrator role or how else would I go about assigning a user this role if it is not through the manage roles area thanks

When you go to "Host Accounts" it does look like the User Accounts page, but it really is a special User Accounts page for superusers. Add a user and then you'll find that when you login as that user, it has superuser privileges.
