Hello all

I installed the Housemenu in my DNN Portal (Version 3.2.2). I tried
version 1.04 beta of the housemenu but unfortunately it does not work
properly: I use the default xml-settings as described in the
ReadMe.txt. A vertical Menu appears but at the end there is the
following error message:

"DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference
not set to an instance of an object. --->
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance
of an object. at
TimRolands.DNN.SkinObjects.HouseMenuSkinObject.HouseMenuSkinObject.Pag
e_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack
trace ---"

I tried the older version 1.03 as well but it is even worse: my whole
Portal cannot be loaded when I load the new skin. Firefox says:
"The page isn't redirecting properly. Firefox has detected that the
server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will
never complete. This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or
refusing to accept cookies."
IE just constantly tries to reload but nothing happens. :-(

I even tried version 1.02 and it has the same redirection problem...
Are these known bugs, do you know what I can do about it?

Thank you in advance and best wishes,
Daniel

Hello Daniel,

I would follow this tutorial:
How to install and configure the House of Nuke menu for a DotNetNuke skin

and then install this skin:
Free Skin - Simple Red Leaf CSS Skin

These 2 should get you up to speed quickly.

If you want to learn about styling the menu, you can also check out:

Hope this helps, thanks,

Thank you for your answers!

But are these errors known errors which are described in the tutorial? I followed all the instructions of the housemenu website and I still get this errors with every version. Is this just a configuration problem?

Hello,

You shouldn't come across any errors when using the HouseMenu. The tutorial walks you through how to install HouseMenu, which should be straight forward. They then go into detail for skinning with the HouseMenu.

If you install a skin designed for HouseMenu before installing the HouseMenu PA for the skin object then you will get problems.

You will need to un-install any HouseMenu skins and then install the HouseMenu Skin Object PA. Once that is correctly installed you can install any skins designed for HouseMenu.

If you download the Simple Red Leaf Skin you can try it out on your setup.
Free Skin - Simple Red Leaf CSS Skin

Thanks,

Hi Lee,

I've downloaded the housemenu but was not able to make it work. Also, I could not download the video tutorial you're pointing. Can you tell me how to make the housemenu work?

Thanks!

Let's work on the tutorial part first.  Try downloading How to install and configure the House of Nuke menu for a DotNetNuke skin again.  If it doesn't work, please let us know the details.  We'll go from there.
