Hello DNNCreative members,

By default the registration page has the following fields:

User Name
First Name
Last Name
Display Name
Email Address
Password
Confirm Password

Is there anyway I can reduce the number of fields to just:

Name
Email Address
Password
Confirm Password
Country / City (and add this new field)

Thank you,
Saleem

This isn't a simple task.

However I've recently become aware of login and registration modules available from Datasprings. I haven't used either of them, but they would appear to do what you want them to do, and a lot more ...

You'll have to decide how to construct the Username and the Display name from "Name." One choice would be to use the email address as the user name, and use the Name as the Display name.

Joe,

Is there any other way to do this without purchasing this module?

thanks

You get do quite a bit by fiddling with the visibility of the various profile properties, and by determining which are required and which are not.  Making a property "required" should cause it to appear on the registration page.  Some properties, like email and first and last names cannot be removed, I think.

You can also require a user to have a valid profile before they can login.  This means that they must fill in the require elements.

The module I mentioned gives you lots and lots of other options.

And, if you haven't done so, you'll want to view these tutorials:

You will also want to check these tutorials for profile properties:
