Hi.
I'm new to DNN, and just watched my first set of videos on this site, for customizing registration.  I found them helpful, and fairly easy to follow; even for a newbie like me.

I have several questions, though:

1. The video showed coding in the profile.ascx file.  I'm using DNN 4.9, and could not find that file. Is the information in a different file in this version, or am I looking in the wrong place?

2. I would like to force new members to use their real names, by entering first and last names, and having a token automatically fill in the user name.  I'd rather not have the user name first on the page.  Can this be done?

3. If I change the page to that extent, will I have problems in future upgrades?

Thanks so much for the help!
Steven

I would recommend that you NOT begin your DotNetNuke life by starting to modify any of the code. Yes, that will set you up for trouble when you go to upgrade. But ... Profile.ascx is in the admin\Users direcdtory.

If you want to modify the Registration and related stuff, I would recommend instead that you use Dynamic Registration from Data Springs. It offers lots of flexibility. I don't know, however if it will construct a username for you. You'll have to check with Data Springs for that.
