I am running into a server error when trying to start a copy of a website on to a new server. Following the instructions in the "Sync Server and Localhost" training videos, I restored the database, added permissions and modified the web.config file correctly (as I recently successfully did on another DNN website move) but I received a bunch of errors when trying to start the "localhost/dms-portals" site all of which have been corrected. I have recopied all of the files from the 'wwwroot' off the remote server once again to make sure that all of the files that are running on the hosted site are in my local directories.

When I try to load the site now I am getting this error:

Server Error in '/dms-portals' Application.

Could not load type 'DotNetNuke.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationController' from assembly 'DotNetNuke, Version=4.8.2.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'DotNetNuke.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationController' from assembly 'DotNetNuke, Version=4.8.2.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'.

Source Error:

An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below.

Stack Trace:

<PRE>[TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'DotNetNuke.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationController' from assembly 'DotNetNuke, Version=4.8.2.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'.]
   DotNetNuke.HttpModules.AuthenticationModule.Init(HttpApplication application) +0
   System.Web.HttpApplication.InitModulesCommon() +66
   System.Web.HttpApplication.InitInternal(HttpContext context, HttpApplicationState state, MethodInfo[] handlers) +1006
   System.Web.HttpApplicationFactory.GetNormalApplicationInstance(HttpContext context) +259
   System.Web.HttpApplicationFactory.GetApplicationInstance(HttpContext context) +114
   System.Web.HttpRuntime.ProcessRequestInternal(HttpWorkerRequest wr) +350
</PRE>
I cannot find any authentication files that are missing. This is a DNN 4.8.2 install on SQL Server Express.

Any clues as to why this is not working?

Thanks!

Frank

Is this what you see when you browse to the site? Your use of the phrase "trying to start the site" makes me think that you are doing something else?
