I am currently trying to build a website, I am using the tutorial on how to build a website

when i changed the soulpart menu to houseofnuke housemenu skin object, my home link stop working properly

for example: it use to point to the url my localhost:xxxx, now it does not.

so my question is if there is any where in my localhost website files to make the appropriate changes, or can it be done some other way.

I think that you must have done something wrong with the menu. If you use one of the standard DotNetNuke skins -- and you can change skins in an instant -- does your home page return and work correctly? If so, that narrows the problem to the skin and how you may have configured the menu.

Go to the admin menu / site settings / advanced settings / page management / Home Page:

Here you can select the page that will be used as the Home Page

Hello Lee,

I was hoping that I could go into a file and hardcode the change, however mabey the way you explain to do it is better,

I remember doing a tutorial on manipulating tabsdigit)  http://localhost:1046/DotNetNuke%20Website2/SkinDemoPage/Page3NoContent/tabid/56/Default.aspx

I think i can find the answer in one of those tutorials

the link above is actually pointing to my "Page3Ncontent" page hence my Home page points to the wrong url:

  http://localhost/dotnetnuke%20website2

as you can see it does not have the number ( ://localhost:1046/)

thus, pointing to the wrong page. how can I change this url to point to the write place

http://localhost:1046/dotnetnuke%20website2

I tried deleting the home page to then create a new one but I got:

A page defined as Home, Splash, Login or User Page for the portal, or the last visible Page in the portal cannot be deleted.

Here is my advice: NEVER, NEVER, ... NEVER change the source code. Get to know the tools that the framework provides and use them. By not changing the code, you'll be able to upgrade easily.

The Home page should automatically appear in you menu. Make sure that the page is named "Home" and that you clear the Home Page entry in site settings. That is used if your Home page isn't named "Home."

There is no place in the source code to change the url ...

If your home page is not pointing home, there is some other error.
