Hi, I have a website which holds a table of sales figures. I want to write some reports to display this data on other pages. For example i would like a top 5 salesman table which will get the 5 highest figures from the udt and display them elsewhere (home page). However I am really struggling as i do not know how to write the queries (or filter) and cannot find anywhere to learn how.
Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated.
Thanks alot everyone

Hello,

Have you had a look at User Defined Table (UDT) DotNetNuke Core Module

Hi,
I have watched all the videos in that segment and they were all extremely helpful. However it does not go into any detail about how i might go about using UDT's as a data source and how to query against them etc, is there anything else i could try?
Thanks

Do you have any experience with SQL queries?

I think the only way you can do this is to get your hands dirty with SQL.

If you create some test example UDT data and then look in the DotNetNuke tables, you will see the data is stored across 3 tables:

UserDefinedData
UserDefinedFields
UserDefinedRows

You will need to create a SQL query to extract the data you require for your reports.

If you then want to present the data to users in your DNN portal, you can use the Reports module. - The reports module allows you to enter SQL queries for any tables in your DNN installation.

If you don't know anything about SQL you will need to have a read of some beginners books to get to grips with it.

However, as it happens the next issue for 1st May is all about SQL! - I demo how to setup SQL Server Management to setup your own queries on the tables in DNN and there are several examples for speeding up admin processes which should give you enough information to at least get started as I demonstrate how to use the SQL Design Query wizard. - I don't cover querying the UDT module, but it could be a possibility in the future.

Thanks,
