Hi, I'm a new user of DNN, and a recent subscriber to DNN Creative. My project is a destination web site that combines a directory (lodging, activities, dining, etc.) with community and social networking features. I am exploring options for an online booking component that integrates with DNN and handles online lodging booking (condominiums).

My criteria in order of importance:
1. Ownership of code so I can pay someone to integrate via API/web service with property management software (ASP.NET).
2. Ability to add features/product categories in the future (i.e. activity booking).
3. Single sign-on for site users/bookings.
4. Complete flexibility in design of booking path.
5. Flexibility with choice of payment processing.
6. Product ratings/reviews
7. Ease of use/Admin - I know I will have to spend to have someone setup for me, but I want to be able to manage products (condos) on my own in the admin.
8. Universal search throughout the site.

These are obviously just high level requirements.

I have looked briefly at Catalook and the Stor Core Module.

1. Can you recommend some other options?
2. Do you know of any example sites using dnn right now that do this that I can look at?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Brian

Hello,

Welcome to the forum, I would recommend you download any trial versions of the store modules and have a good look through the admin sections.

The active purchase module may cover your needs as it does allow for flexibility in design of the order process and is simple to use, but it will have some other limitations such as ratings / reviews.

Ownership of code - You'll need to see if the source code is available for purchase through each of the modules, you may even be able to approach the original developer of the module for a custom version of their module, usually most developers are open to this type of work.

Catalook and the AspDotNetStoreFront modules are massive modules - trials are avaialble for both of those module. - Other modules which have also been mentioned since the store reviews in Issue no 30 are:

SDN store
Portal Store

There are several modules that I have used in combination to build similar sites, but with regards to a good listing module that I find extremely flexilbe and easy to use for real estate type of catalogs, etc.. is the ventrian.com property agent module: http://www.ventrian.com/Products/Mo...gent.aspx.

I'd second that recommendation. I used ventrian's property agent for my vacation rental listings, still hoping he will add a calendar, but besides that it is fully functional.

Greetings
Thanks for your post on vacation rental sites. Do you currently have a active vacation rental site? We are in the process of putting togeather spec for our SW Florida By Owner vacation and long term rental site.

Do you have any recommendation on developers for such a site.

We have 40 sites and about 30 are in DNN such as www.swfrealestate.com.

Please advise.

Best wishes

Hi, We have a Vacation rental site http://www.lodgeaway.com/, this site is completely custom. But now we are working on a new project with DotNetNuke, we will provide our customers with Dotnetnuke site and a module that will pull their vacation rentals’ info from our LodgeAway. They can have unlimited number of listings on their site and our site for free. Also once they will list their rental on our site it will be listed on other 5 sites that we own + we list all our listing on Google Base… so you can imagine the free traffic a property owner can get through or system…
Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks

Greetings Harunkinali:

Can you tell me who owns www.lodgeaway.com and who are the designers. We are looking for a simular site in DNN with SQL data base. We will be focusing mostly on Florida with SW Florida as our main area. We have 40 other sw florida sites that our rental site will be tied to with thousands of pages.

Please advise.

That lodgeaway site is pretty nice and I especially like the photo that comes up when you first go to the page. I think that this site is pretty neat too - for a vacation rental site, because of the funky color scheme. I'm not sure about their logo though. The only thing is it looks like the coding would be pretty intense to create a site like that, what do you think? This is it:
