    Hi,

Excellent tutorial on CSS skinning :-)). I am trying to implement this and have most of it working on my dnn4.0.2 site.

One issue I have is that when in admin/host mode, pointing at the action menu icon pops up the action popup menu - but its at the top of the page :-((.

I'm probably missing something basic here, so any pointer would be great. Didn't seem to be covered in the video's - just went through them again - unless I missed something again ;-O.

    Thanks

    Graham

    Hi Graham,

Glad you have found the tutorials useful.

The problem you are experiencing is due to the Solpart menu. With the CSS skins I installed the HouseMenu which is a CSS menu to replace the Solpart menu.

The information below is listed at the bottom of the skinning tutorial page. These tutorials will provide all of the info you will need.

    - One thing which I will be interested to hear about is that I've just checked the housemenu site and it states the menu is for DNN3.x, I haven't tested it in DNN4.x so I will be interested to hear if it works.

If it doesn't there are other CSS menus available which I will find the links for if the HouseMenu doesn't work,

    Thanks,

    Lee

Initial preparations required in video 1:

    Install the HouseMenu
    Install the FCKEditor

PS. - I've just released today an updated version of the Simple Red Leaf skin, so if you are using it for reference I would download it again.

Just completed the CSS containers tutorials for the next issue to be released on May 1st as well,

    Cheers,

    Lee,

Thanks for the response - I'll try the latest code maybe after tomorrow (client demo). I have already done the HouseMenu changes, fckeditor, default.aspx etc., but it looks like the popup action menu's on the containers are still using Solpart :-((.

    See sample script below.

I would give you a URL but I can't until I have shown my client tomorrow ;-)). Then I may be able to let you see it - as that would probably help.

Great news on the container tutorial - looks like I'll be viewing that next week ??.

Yes the HouseMenu does indeed work well with dnn4.0.2 :-). I even managed to get the vertical popout menu working, looks great ;-). Main menu is fine - its just the action menu's on the containers....

I'll keep you posted on progress....

    Thanks

    Regards

    Graham

    Hello Graham,

That's good to hear that the HouseMenu works with 4.x - I thought it was the main menu you had problems with, to remove Solpart menu from the containers and replace it with a drop down list, follow this tutorial:

http://skins.dnncreative.com you will see the home page completely validates.

Let me have a link when you are allowed to release it, I will be interested to see what you have created in CSS!

    Lee,

Many thanks for your help and the tutorials ;-)). these are a great way to get up to speed quickly.

Went through the container stuff - its pretty simple really :-)).

One thing you might want to touch on is the best way to structure multiple skins.containers so that they get installed in a tree - eg company/type/skins (oxns/Transparent/Red etc.) - I don't find it intuitive ;-).

The site is coming along - but is a subscription site, so I'll let you have a login at some point (probably a week or two ;-).

If you send me an email to my private email address (see user table ;-) - I'll send over the skin code so you can see how my vertical menu is built etc. - can't make it public yet :-O.

Having some issues with container transparency between IE6 and FF (now 1.5.0.3), but moving on to content for a while - so this will have to wait....

Thanks again - keep up the good work.....

    Regards

    Graham

Great, glad to hear you got the containers sorted.

I've sent you an email, thanks, will be interesting to have a look at the code - I will make a note of your suggestion in the tutorials list.
