Hi,

Whenever I click a link to get the popup calendar it returns the date in the wrong format. It gives me mm/dd/yyyy rather than dd/mm/yyyy. I've checked all the obvious things and all the localization setting are set to UK wherever I find it.

Can anyone help?

Cheers,

Marcus

Hello,

Go to Host / Languages - Select English (UK) / Add
Go to Admin / Site Settings / Advanced / Other setting / Default Language - select English (UK)

The calendar should now use the correct format. - If it doesn't and you are using the DNN-Blue skin - do you have the drop down list displaying the langage chosen for your profile? - It will prob be set to US - click on this and change it to UK.

- If you go into your profile (click on your username) / Manage profile / scroll to the bottom, here you can select your preferred locale

Hope this help, thanks

Thanks Lee,

I've done everything you've suggested but it still returns the date in mm/dd/yyyy format. It displays the date correctly in the text box for a fraction of a second and then flips it to US format?

Anything else you can recommend? This happens on my local machine (UK regional settings) and on the WebHost4Life server.

Cheers,

Marcus

If you use IE7...check the defualt regional settings in your browser under Internet Options >>> Languages. Just to make sure if that is set to en-UK.

I had the same issue...also under Admin >>> Languages for your portal you could remove browser language detection for the portal.

If that is indeed the issue then the above two should resolve it.

Thanks for the information. However, I'm using IE6. Under Admin >>> Languages I just get a blank screen, even though I've set up "en-GB" in the Host settings. Perhaps this is part of the problem.

Anyone else got any ideas? This is driving me loopy....

Thanks!

Marcus.

You get a completely blank screen? The languages module should display with several options, including the tick box mentioned in the previous post, this could be part of the problem then. - Perhaps try creating a fresh test localhost installation and going to admin / languages to see if you can select the option?

Your other option would be to delete the US language from the list in Host / Languages and just have the GB language available

Hi Lee,

Well, I've investigated this issue further and done a completely new DNN installation.

1. I added the English(UK) language pack and modified the portal and user settings to be English (UK).
2. These languages now appear in the Admin>>Languages screen.
3. I've even tried disabling the English (US).

Still no joy though. I've noticed really strange behaviour though... When the popup calendar appears and you click on a day it returns the date in mm/dd/yyyy format. However, if you click on the day number cell (rather than the hyperlink for the day) it returns the date in dd/mm/yyyy format. Weird!! Can you give it a try to see what happens with you?

Any help, advice or suggestions are gratefully received.

Cheers,

Marcus.

Hi Marcus,

I've just tested this on a fresh installation of 4.4.1 and I can't reproduce your problem. In the admin /  languages I have disabled en-US and un-ticked enable browser detection for current portal and the dates are working correctly.

I don't quite understand what you mean by 'clicking on a day' I can only see the hyperlink date numbers, perhaps you could email an image of what you mean?

Where are you testing the calendar? is it in a particular module? - I have just been testing it by going to admin / site settings / advanced settings / host settings and clicking on the calendar link next to the expiry date.

Thanks,

Hi Lee,

I'm using version 4.3.7 but I'd be surprised if that's the problem as nobody else has reported this before.

I'll email you an image seperately. All I'm doing is logging in as Host (or another user) and clicking on settings for the "Welcome to Dotnentnuke" on the default DNN home page. Then Settings>>Advanced Settings>>Start Date (calendar). Although any date popup calendar gives the same issue.

I'm starting to wonder if perhaps a setting on my development machine is causing this problem?

Email coming over now.....

Marcus.

Hi Marcus,

Thanks for the email, I now see what you mean.  However after trying this on my system I don't get the same problem, if I click on the hyperlink the date is in the correct format and it is also in the correct format if I click on the grey box. it maybe worth testing this on a different machine to see if you can replicate the problem.

- I am based in Leeds.

Hi Lee,

Well, I've managed to fix the problem. Have a look at this link... It's more IE related rather than DNN related but it's still worth knowing about. http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community...ault.aspx.

The only strange this is that I'm not using IE7... I'm on IE6 although I did have an early IE7 loaded but uninstalled it ages ago. Perhaps that messed something up?

Anyway, the problem has been fixed in later versions of DNN.

Any thoughts.... I don't like having to change core code. Even if it is only a little snippet of JS.

Thanks for your help,

Marcus.

Hi Marcus,

Well that explains why my version was working okay and yours wasn't, the problem has been fixed in 4.4. - I wouldn't be too worried about making this change, just create a copy of the original file in case you make a mistake and edit the js file that they specify. Thanks,
