Hi,

I am new to Dotnetnuke.I want to customise the Registration page.I want to assign role to the user at the time of registration.By using the Manage Profile properties,I am able to add the Role property in the registraion page. But how the selection of role gets affected in the database.

Hi kiran,

What I am trying is not auto assigning the role.I want the admin to assign a role during registration from the set of existing roles.I have added a filed Role(dropdown list) in registration page .But the assigned role to a user is not reflected in database.

Deepthi

Will the administrator be creating the new users?  If so, it's relatively easy to add a new account to a role.  Not quite what you described, but not difficult.

Hi Joseph,

Thanks for your response.

Yes I want the administrator to create the new user.I want the role to be assigned at the time of creating the user(not by selecting a role to be auto assigned).I want the admin to select the role from a dropdown. What I tried is by adding a dropdown in User.ascx.On selection of a role from dropdown, the user should be mapped to that role.

Regards,
Deepthi.

If the admin is creating the new user, the admin can select the role from the Manage Users page once the new user has been created.

If you want to have the functionality that you describe, you will have to create it yourself.  That's not something that I'd recommend.  If you do go that way, however, I'd recommend that you create an alternative Add User page.  That way, it will survive a version upgrade.  You can use the current code, from the Source package, to get you started.
