Hi,

I'm trying to set up ddn 3.1.0 on my local server. After a few errors the installation took place and the default ddn website appeared, great, then I tried to login as admin&host with password admin/host and it doesn't respond? It just takes you from the login screen back to the home page but with no admin controls etc. seems strange, have you come across this before?

thanks alot,
jo

hello,

I have come across this before, you need to check a couple of things.  First of all some of the browsers can be funny when logging in to a local host installation.  Internet Explorer should be fine but I have found Mozilla Firefox to be the best browser when working on a local host installation.

The next thing to check is your firewall settings, if they are set too high you may find that you cannot login.

Thinking about it, I recall when I was using Internet Explorer I had to switch off the firewall to get access, but with Firefox I can leave the firewall enabled and still get full access to the local host installation.

Hope this helps, thanks,

hi lee,

thanks for the swift reply,
i've turned the security setting right down and the proxy was already turned off and i'm working directly on the server so i'm within the hardware firewall we have but still no luck!

Just wondering whether to start from scratch again?

I can't think of anything else off the top of my head, but it may be worth Googling around or looking in the main DotNetNuke Forum for any further possibilities.

have you set the folder for the DotNetNuke installation files with Read write permissions?

I have been googling around but no luck so far. The DotNetNuke installation folder seems to have all the right read/write permissions...
Do I need to delete the ddn.config file?

Will keep looking tonight and then start again tomorrow I think...

Cheers,
Jo

The last error i got was something about the URLRewrite and so I read the following from a forum and added the code and the installation went ahead.

"This error implies that there is already a "URLRewrite" HttpModule loaded in the application, so as your Virtual Directory is "/dnn_3_2_1" or something like that then "/" must contain an existing dnn install that is causing errors. I've had that problem setting up DNN in a virtual directory before. Specifically when a DNN installation is already running in the root dir of the webserver. The solution was to add the one line in between your line 58 and 59"

Maybe this has something to do with it?
Cheers,
j

hello,

I am unsure about any URL rewrite problems, I haven't come across those before.  It would also be worth your time posting a question in the main DotNetNuke Forum as someone else may have come across this problem before. Thanks,

Hello,

This error looks as though there is a problem with the connection string to your database, I would double check the connection string in your web.config file and also double check that you have created the SQL database with the username and password that you have specified in the connection string.
