    Hello,

I am running into a problem with a flash file and IE7.  My site is running DNN 5.2.3.  I created a flash file that was working fine for a number of months. Then about a month ago it suddenly stopped working.  My ISP had implemented some upgrades.  We did some digging and learned that my jqwery was messed up.  Once they re-installed that, the flash started working with Firefox.  It does not, however, work with IE.  We are all stumped - I am hoping someone may have a suggestion.

Here is the latest from their testing with comments:

Step #1) Go to URL of the flash file in Firefox. We were prompted to download the file (this is good).

Step #2) Go to URL of the flash file in IE. We were prompted to download the file (this is good).

Step #3) Using Firefox, go to page on website that has the flash file. The server's IIS log shows the request for the .swf and the .XML file that was passed as a parameter (this is good)

Step #4) Using IE7, go to page on website that has the flash file in IE. The server's IIS log shows the request for the .swf file BUT DOES NOT SHOW the .XML file that was passed as a parameter (this is bad).

Any idea on what would be causing this and how to fix it?  Right now visitors using IE7 see a big hole on my site where the flash file would be.

    Thank you for your help!

Can you provide some details on how the flash file is embedded in our site and also where are the files located. You'll need to pay special attention to where the xml file is located and where the flash file looks for it.

What is bothersome is that some unspecified changes broke the site for IE. Do you know what the changes were?

    Hi Joseph,

Thanks so much for looking into this. I am using the latest version of DataSprings Dynamic Image Rotator to create the flash file. I have been working with Chad and his team to try and determine the problem. It appears to be something on my server because their test file displays fine on IE7. Interestingly enough, I found another post in one of their forums from another company with a similar problem. When I go to their website, the same thing happens. I can see the Flash in Firefox but not in IE7.

Thinking maybe this is something with my PC, I uninstalled and re-installed the Flash plug-in. I found some posts that say Flash can be corrupted in IE7. This did not fix the problem.

I have a Level 2 support ticket in with my ISP. I will see if I can find out what changes were made. I was told back then it was a "routine" update.

My site uses iFinity's URL Master. Part of this requires a change in IIS6 that involves wildcard mapping. I do not feel this is the cause of the problem because everything was working fine for several months. Unless their update changed this setting. I will check with the ISP to see if my wildcard mapping was changed. I will also confirm that my server still uses IIS6 and not IIS7.

    Hi Joseph,

I confirmed my server is still running IIS 6. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated because we are all stumped as to what is causing this.

    does 5.2.3 require .Net 3.0?

I have to tell you that this seems very weird indeed.
