Hello, is it possible to run an external application from within DNN - for instance doSomething.dll DNNuserName or externalDoSomething.exe DNNuserName There is no need for a return value. Does anyone know an extensino for this? Regards Oliver

Do you want to do this on a schedule, or in response to an event such as a mouse click?

If the former, you can create a "scheduled task." It's a fairly simple process.

If the latter, you could attach a custom "onclick" javascript to the link. The only trick there is in writing the javascript code to start up whatever it is that you want to start.

I did this several years ago, so I think that what I found must have been in the "Professional DotNetNuke 4" book.  I think that Mitchel Sellers covers it, briefly, in his book on module programming.  A Google search for "DotNetNuke Scheduled Task" turns up this.

As Rafe shows, it's a fairly simple thing.
